Essential requirements:

  • Are you a recent university graduate within the last 3 years, with a high-performance academic track record – minimum of Second Class Upper division or equivalent?

Job Purpose and key Deliverables

  • British American Tobacco has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Security Officer to join our team in Zaria.

Context / Environment

  • The Security Department supports the company’s objectives through development and implementation of policies covering every aspect of security management, for them to serve as action guidelines at all levels of the company.
  • The CSO reports to the Security Manager and is a key member of the security team within the company, working closely with other functions.

Purpose Statement

  • To provide a secure environment in which BATNL will ensure as far as practicable, that its people are safe, its assets and operations are  protected from theft and wilful damage and its sensitive and proprietary information are kept private and also to effectively integrate security and main business operations so as to contribute to the achievement of BAT corporate objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Implement Group and departmental security policies as formulated by management
  • Carry out all instructions as may be directed by the ASM and the CSM
  • Ensure that a report on the security situation in standard format, is submitted monthly to the Factory Security Manager.
  • Draft Policies and procedures for approval by manager and make changes where necessary
  • Provide input and advice where necessary for the development, review and updating of the security element of contingency plans.
  • Control the functions of all security escort team personnel, employees and contractors so as to provide a properly co-ordinated and cost effective service.
  • Supervise the activities of supervisors and the contract security personnel
  • Manage the business relationship between BATN Security Department and contractors
  • Liaise with other departments concerning all BATN security issues
  • Intervene in all emergency cases to mitigate damage/loss of company employees and property
  • Provide effective security cover for all company special events
  • Gather and interpret intelligence reports and implement appropriate measures.

Working Relationships:

  • Close contact with the Factory Security Manager
  • Close contact with Country Security Manager.
  • Close contact with Area Security Manager.
  • Close contact with all Chief Security Officers.
  • Close contact with all Senior Security supervisors.
  • Liaison with external Security agents especially the police.

Requirements 
Essential Requirements:

  • Preferably a Degree in the Humanities, Social Sciences or Arts.
  • Previous security experience.
  • Sufficient IT knowledge /skills to generate, operate and run reports
  • Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills.

Job Purpose and key Deliverables

  • You will be a member of the Trade Marketing & Distribution department, which is responsible for the implementation of the route to market strategy.
  • This includes ensuring product availability, visibility, volume, margin, quality and retail pricing are properly implemented and monitored.
  • The job is also about identification of new opportunities and the initiation, development and deployment of trade programmes.

Your day to day activity is to:

  • Ensure the effective and efficient execution of marketing activities in the defined territory and extended coverage area
  • Serve as part of a ‘Tactical Response Team’, positioned to address situations arising within the market, as well as business needs. In this regard, direction to be provided by Area Manager, TMDM or Regional Manager
  • Execute basic TM&D activities in the outlets located within the territory in order to meet company objectives as described in the cycle plan (visibility, availability, freshness, consumer contacting etc)
  • Achieve volume and distribution targets through direct selling (Top-up stock), management of the rural wholesale customer and monitoring of van sales.
  • Improve the company’s corporate image by operating at the highest business ethics, environmental, health and safety standards using the IMS as a guide

Your People Responsibility will be:

  • Supporting Rural wholesale business expansion by providing Trade marketing support for the DSS rep attached.
  • Engaging local government officials, transport/ traffic agencies and other stakeholders to avoid disruption of BAT operations in the defined rural territory.
  • Supporting Van Reps to achieve high performance by developing new routes and giving TM&D support to existing outlets.

Requirements
Essential requirements:

  • Candidate must have an OND degree from any reputable polytechnic.
  • Should have basic Selling, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of developing and maintaining relationships with consumers, retailers and semi wholesaler
  • Knowledge of redistribution concept, business reporting and communication
  • Fluency in English
  • Driving Skills

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge of Rural towns and road networks is desirable
  • Understanding of the local languages in territory is a plus
