International News is at the heart of the BBC. BBC News Group employs approximately 1100 staff in 98 international bureaux. It provides multimedia services to a global weekly audience of over 250 million in English and 27 languages around the clock, every day of the year. Our bureaux react to breaking news, provide news updates and analysis and produce live programme output. In a highly competitive market, delivering to both UK Licence Fee payers and commercial partners, BBC News services must be reliable and consistent.
In November 2015, the BBC announced a plan to expand its World Service operation in West Africa. Alongside the BBC existing services, this expansion will transform the BBC World Service operation in West Africa, turning it into a truly multilingual and multiplatform editorial powerhouse that will offer impartial, high quality and impactful content to the region.
Based in Lagos and reporting to the Bureau Manager, this role will coordinate the recruitment administration, on boarding, relocation and training of new employees. The co-ordinator will work very closely with UK Africa Project Team, HR, Recruitment as well as the Africa Editorial Leads.
Working closely with the London based recruitment team, you will be responsible for all aspects of the recruitment process and will provide local administrative support in the Lagos office.
Duties will include:
Placing job adverts with local employment agencies and advising on attraction strategies with the local market
Coordinating and arranging interviews; updating managers on recruitment time scales
Issuing offer letters, raising contracts, assisting with reference checks and answering candidate queries
Coordinating inductions and training events; liaising with BBC Academy, HR and other teams when required.
HR administration for terminations, resignations and new joiners
Updating records on HR information system (SAP)
Other HR/Recruitment administrative support

The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be highly organised with proven success in a busy HR/Recruitment administration role. You will have the ability to manage several projects at the same time, and the confidence to interact with internal and external stakeholders both face to face and on the phone. A good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is also important.
